Butterfly Koi originated in the mid 20th century in Japan and are most commonly available in white, orange, or red. They are easily recognized by their elegant long flowing fins resembling butterfly wings.
The Japaneese Koi has gone though centuries of select breeding and is now available in an array of color patterns. Although Koi can live up to 200 years old in exceptional cases, the average lifespan for these fish is between 25-35 years.
The parrot fish has a great personality, recognizing its owner, begging for food and interacting well with humans. It is also surprisingly gentle for its size.
A majestic and long lived fish, that despite its size is very gentile. Provide with plenty of swimming space and hiding places.
The Silver Arowana needs to be in a large aquarium with a smooth gravel bottom. The tank must be fitted with a tight, heavy cover because they are known to jump, particularly when after prey.
